Former PlayStation Studios head Shuhei Yoshida shared his thoughts on Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal, expressing mild disappointment and hoping for more surprises.
In an interview with MinnMax (here’s the timestamp), Yoshida noted that the announcement felt more like a confirmation than a groundbreaking reveal. “I expected a bigger moment,” he said. “It was just, ‘Here’s the Switch 2,’ with few surprises—except for that ‘mice’ thing.”
Yoshida hopes Nintendo has something unexpected in store for the upcoming April 2 Direct, saying, “Nintendo often does things in weird, amazing ways. I hope they reveal something truly unique that no one anticipates.”
Since retiring from Sony in January after over three decades with the company, Yoshida has been vocal about the gaming industry.
He recently commented on Horizon Forbidden West’s sales underperformance, the PS Vita’s struggles, and even suggested most publishers would have canceled The Last Guardian.
