FromSoftware’s latest title, Elden Ring Nightreign, debuted on May 30, 2025, drawing over 313,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch. Despite the strong numbers, player reception so far has been mixed.

Nightreign is a standalone co-op survival game set in the Elden Ring universe. Players can team up in groups of three—or go it alone—to survive a three-day in-game cycle that ends in a showdown against the Nightlord. The experience is built around eight distinct classes, each with unique skills designed for synergy and tactical execution.
While the concept has garnered attention, some players have pointed out the absence of two-player co-op and voice chat as limitations from the outset. FromSoftware has acknowledged community feedback and is reportedly considering changes through future updates.
At the time of writing, Elden Ring Nightreign holds a “Mixed” user rating on Steam. Around 70% of more than 8,000 reviews are positive. The game’s unusual hybrid of roguelike structure and battle royale pacing has proven divisive yet undeniably compelling for a large segment of the fan base.
