Capcom’s latest fantasy RPG — Dragon’s Dogma 2 — is barely holding a “Mixed” rating on Steam with 40% positive reviews due to major performance hiccups.
The PC launch of Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been a bumpy ride following some crippling optimization issues.
Unlike its console counterparts, also plagued with inconsistent frame rates, the PC version suffers from frame drops and stuttering, even on high-end rigs.
This is particularly evident in crowded areas such as Vernworth where the game’s CPU-intensive character calculations overwhelm systems.
Capcom has acknowledged the problem, stating it is investigating ways to improve performance. However, this hasn’t soothed frustrated players, who report frequent crashes alongside the frame rate woes.
While the core product may be enticing, the technical issues are proving to be a significant hurdle. If you’re hoping to slay dragons and conquer quests on PC, consider waiting until the storm has passed if you don’t want to be part of a potentially frustrating experience.
If you’re still willing to leap into action, consider reading up on all Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations before setting out.
The sequel to 2012’s cult classic is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
