According to them, the most relevant example of Capcom approving projects in groups of 3 is Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2: Remake, and Devil May Cry 5. The company’s goal here was to utilize the power of its new RE engine.
Remaking RE2 subsequently inspired Capcom to go ahead with RE3 and RE4 as well with players now speculating about the fifth entry getting the same treatment.
As Dragon’s Dogma 2 expanded the RE Engine’s functionality for open worlds, Dusk Golem states that Resident Evil 9 and Monster Hunter Wilds will be the two other games leveraging this technology’s power.
Furthermore, they mention how part of the goal with these three projects has been to retain the franchise’s DNA. Given that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is very clearly like the first game, it stands to reason that Resident Evil 9 and Monster Hunter Wilds will follow suit.
That said, I wouldn’t want people to be under a false impression so take these details with a grain of salt until any official announcements.
The launch of Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been a hot topic due to its performance issues & microtransactions, with the latter being linked to Capcom’s previous claims on fast travel.
