In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Takuro Mizobe, creator of the breakout hit Palworld, revealed Pocket Pair’s intention to remain a small studio.
Despite the game’s unexpected success, Mizobe expressed a lack of interest in large-scale expansion, a path often chosen by studios after significant achievements.
The interview indicates Pocket Pair plans to continue focusing on smaller projects rather than venturing into the AAA development space. Its current focus appears to be on bringing Palworld to additional platforms.
Palworld’s surprise launch garnered universal acclaim within a short timeframe, captivating players with its unique blend of monster collecting and online multiplayer elements. The title has achieved impressive sales figures, exceeding 8 million copies sold, and has seen significant spikes in its active player base on Steam.
#Palworld has sold over 8 million copies in less than 6 days!

In a market dominated by ever-expanding budgets and often mediocre AAA releases, Palworld proves that creativity and focus can trump sheer financial muscle. This indie gem has garnered critical acclaim and impressive sales, demonstrating that smaller studios can create captivating experiences without breaking the bank or compromising ethics.
I believe Pocket Pair’s success serves as an inspiration, reminding the industry that innovation and passion can thrive even without the ballooning costs and forceful MTX injection.
Palworld launched on January 19, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
