Initially talking about the significance of Dark Souls 2 in molding the Soulsborne series into what it is today, the conversation moved toward how FromSoftware can continually craft such experiences.

I don’t know if it’s some great secret… but generally we are just blessed with a great staff who love to create these games and who are, I think you could say, efficient at creating games.”

According to Miyazaki, the team at FromSoftware is quickly able to understand what they want and the kind of games they want to create. As such, they make important decisions early on in development. This allows them to create ideas and “leave things on the chopping board” leading to the team being able to promptly adapt to any situation at hand.

Elden Ring launched in February of 2022 to universal acclaim for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and last-gen consoles. It not only serves as FromSoftware’s magnum opus but also stands as a symbol of everything the studio has learned over a decade of game development.

The upcoming expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree is set for release on June 21, 2024. In a recent gameplay reveal trailer, we were introduced to various new areas, NPCs, and bosses that await us once the expansion arrives this summer.
